Wendy, in the Netherlands:

I am a huge fan of your work and I really have much admiration for your achievements in literature. I really enjoyed your books, especially Acid Row, which is my favourite book ever!

Yvonne, in the US:

Acid Row was the first book I have read by Minette Walters, and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it. In fact, I now intend to read some of her other novels and look forward to them.

Karen, in the UK:

I have just finished Acid Row (bought at a car boot for 25p I'm afraid) and I just thought I would write and say I love the way you write. I can't put your books down once I've started. I read The Dark Room a while back (50p!!) and that was fantastic. I wish I could write like that. I look forward to finding more of your books at future car boot sales.

Val, in France:

Have just witnessed "your faith in the redeeming power of love" as portrayed in Jimmy. It's a very powerful ending to a tragic story that I couldn't put down.

Denise, in Northern Ireland:

I was delighted to find that you had a website. I've been a huge fan of your work since I read Acid Row some months back. The novel had me gripped from the first page and since then I have read all of your novels. It's been quite a while since I have enjoyed reading this much. With all of your novels, once I started reading them I couldn't put them down but at the same time I didn't want the books to end. (I hope that makes sense). I just wanted to congratulate you on your fantastic work and I shall watch out for any new novels in the near future.

Gayle, in Canada:

I'm sure you get many positive comments regarding your books. I'd like to add one more.

I am a single parent who raised 3 children, and am now a single grandmother raising two more. Despite having a university degree, I need to work 2 jobs to keep food on the table.

This information is not intended to evoke sympathy, but to explain why I love your books, especially Acid Row and The Shape of Snakes. I read several books a week, and most of them portray low-income people as unstable, unreliable losers, rather than people with values other than the aquisition of things. Your characterizations are amazingly accurate, especially in Acid Row.

The idea that people's lives can be affected so greatly by government policies and decisions is a unique perspective, especially in these days of "corporations as gods", and children as nothing more than future drones, rather than as individuals.

I'm sorry - I started to write a brief email to tell you that I have read all of your books several times, and am looking forward to reading Disordered Minds (I have it on order at the library).

Thank you for the many, many hours of pleasure I have had reading your books.

Graeme, in the UK:

I thoroughly enjoyed Acid Row, particularly the depiction of the 'paedophile' as inadequate rather than evil - it was brave and inspired to resist the obvious stereotypes!
